Blue Water High Theme Reworked

Software: Adobe Premiere Pro
Project: Blue Water High but They’re Skateboarders

In May 2023, I reworked the intro theme of the Australian show Blue Water High into a skateboarding-inspired version.

Surfing and skateboarding share the same DNA. They’re energetic, chaotic, and best experienced with friends. So the idea felt natural. What if the world of Blue Water High was built around skateparks instead of beaches?

Reworked Theme

I came across a collection of footage shot by Kool Shooters on Pexels and decided to build the entire edit from scratch. In total, I pulled from sixteen different clips to recreate the feeling of the original opening.

The challenge was not just cutting action together. It was capturing the spirit of the original: friendship, summer, sun, and that slightly messy coming of age energy. At the same time, I wanted to merge it with the raw, unpredictable nature of skate life.

While working on it, I was also watching The 8th Sense. I loved the lingering, slow paced feel of its credit design and wanted to experiment with that tone here. However, this particular edit moved too quickly to fully support that style. I kept one slide that hinted at it, but overall the pacing remained closer to the high energy original.

I also looked to Zeke & Luther for title inspiration. The bold, playful typography felt right for the theme. In the end, though, the final title evolved into something slightly different.

This was not a long project, but it was a fun exercise in tone matching. Reworking something nostalgic forces you to understand why it worked in the first place. You are not just editing clips. You are recreating a feeling.
